  1. From what I understand, when you get on a jet the cabin attendants secure the doors before leaving the ramp. These doors are different from the ones in DB's days in that they CAN NOT be opened in flight. And since the old rear exit just didn't catch on, the only DB cooper stunts anyone will pull will be from foriegn, out of date airline services that still fly the models not equipt with current (as is the last 30 years since) doors.
  2. Low HnPs are fun, especially without goggles ( realling feeling the element, but not at terminal so can still see fine), but you'll never have to worry about the pilot telling you to get out at 1000'. If there was a problem with the plane, he could get it down faster than everyone could get out and then him get down. Plus, there's a reason why AFF teaches us to keep our helmets and seatbelts on for the first 1000', you've got better chances with the crash landing than with your parachute opening on time and in a place that's not gonna land you in powerlines or trees. But I'd love to do one at 2.5 sometime!

    I know

I'll buy that, or I would if I wasn't saving all my $$$ for next weekend

    I know

Truth is a possible way of looking at something: When was the last time you fell through a cloud and logged it as "industrial haze"? Who's to say it wasn't?
  5. I like hearing others say what I WANT to believe. Sometimes I think that we're just trying to justify not being apart of reality as it's come to be, but the bile that comes to the back of my throat when I think about it reminds me that I like not being apart. I like sleeping in a hanger with friends who don't think twice about jumping from airplanes, or spend all night in front of bonfires at the beach. So often I get the same speaches that you guys have been talking about because graduation is just a couple of weeks away, but I've refused to settle for a job I don't like, and I'm still going to hold out for the one that I can say, yes, I do want to do that. If only we could get paid for our stubborn determination to enjoy life.
  6. As long as it's not P_arachute L_ands F_irst, I think any kind of PLF is gonna help. :)
  7. The only shirts I own that aren't hawaiian are boogie T's. Not only does skydiving feed my need to really live, but it also feeds my closet!
  8. I'm graduating college here in a couple weeks, and so recently had my resume checked over by the office that helps with that sort of thing, and in big letters I got a reply the I should NOT include dangerous activities in my interests. But quite frankly, it confused me, a great deal of my leadership experience comes from our club on campus, which has grown a great deal over the last couple years because of myself and a couple friends. So, I'm moving it under leadership experience category. : ) And I like that whole "packing for others" line, good stuff.
  9. PLFXpert- I'll be at Deland on the 21st (and turning 22 that night!). My friend that I jump with has been requested to manifest that weekend, so I'm going to be getting in on the FF load organizing with jimmy and tom and guys. They're going to let him hold a tube on one of the sunset loads, so we have to get in on that fun!
  10. Sorry to hear you are under the weather, Deland was perfect. A little bit of a sun burn, but great jumping otherwise with all 3 planes running. It looks like POPS set a state record with 40, but I'm not certain. It looked cool though.
  11. no way...not that there's anything wrong with that
  12. I'm going out tomorrow (saturday). On a sad note, a friend of mine here at school who's been jumping for a year or so died in a motorcycle accident a week ago. Tomorrow we are planning a memorial jump and sending the videos to his family. Other than that, I'm saving for the 4/20 boogie. I leave May 1st, and that'll be my last BIG weekend out there. Are you going to make it to the Boogie?
  13. Hi, I'm new to the posts, but have about 224 jumps (mostly freefly, ok, all but AFF and two or three RW). I've lived my life (Skydiving portion) through ERAU skydiving club who jumps out at Deland. It's like my family and home, but now I'm graduating from ERAU, and moving back to my original home of Southern California (the waves in florida just aren't surfable after living in San Diego). I need a place to continue. So much of skydiving is the people you jump with, and I need new people. Can anybody fill me in on the skydiving scene in SoCal. Been to Perris a couple times for FlyBoyz Film Festivals, and loved that, but don't know much else. Anything you guys know will help. Thanks.
  14. Do not feel too bad, it's been over two years and I can still tell my parents think I'm wasting my time and money with skydiving. You just have to remember, they maybe family, but they are still Whuffos.
  15. My favorite has to be the Skyvan at Deland. They've attached the bar to roll over and hang on, and now a camera at the door that turns on whenever the light turns red. It's kinda fun to watch everyone exit after a good day of jumping. : )
  16. Are you nuts? Do you know what's happening on April 20th in Deland? It's the 4:20 boogie, er, the FreeFly Shindig. I was at the orriginal two freefly fiestivals put on by local freefly legends and they were a blast. Now that Chris Fiala and Max Cohn are down here thanks to the talents of Tom Balzer, they're not holding anything back. Look at it this way... 1.) You've never been scuba diving, and though you'll probably end up loving it, you can learn later. 2.) You love skydiving and this is going to be one of the best bashes of the year! 3.) I'll be in the middle of finals that weekend, finals that will determine if I graduate an Aerospace Engineer one week later or have to spend another semester at school, and there is no doubt I'll be at Skydive Deland that weekend. The fish can wait, but with skydiving as exciting as it is right now do you think you can pass up this oportunity to jump?
