  1. Look around???? Holey Shite, dude looked down, but I didn't see him clear above before he pulled. Good thing nobody was following him, otherwise that vid would be part of the incidents thread.
  2. Just wanted to bring this forward in case any of his friends missed it the first time around and want to go.
  3. Hey Paul, I think I'm gonna have to agree with Michelle. Feel free to dissagree, that's part of what the forums are for, but taking it up with Jim might prove more beneficial to you since it was his logic that suggested it.
  4. The ladies were awesome, but as long as we're posting support pictures too...these guys were there everyday, working their hardest to keep 140 women happy. Jack did an outstanding job, and I've never been around a better group of pilots. I had a great time just working with all of them, plus being in the picture was cool, too (far left). Once again ladies, congratulations. It was an honor to be a part of your accomplishments! Kris Left to Right: Loader, Skyvan, Casa, Casa, Kapowsin, whole frickin DZ, Monterey, Super, Shark Missing: loader jr., Gypsy which was 3 different guys during the event, 2 mechanics, maintainance, owners, packers, Bomb Shelter staff, and all of manifest. You could almost start another big way with all the support!
  5. Skysurfers deploy in stand, but the flips were done for dramatic effect. The BASE from car was cool and real, except I don't think dude swerved onto the ramp, jumped out of the drivers seat onto the back of the car, then deployed. He was standing on the back of the car when he deployed though, and that was damn cool. Go Tim Rigby. That makes up for letting an old lady kick your ass in the Diet Mt. Dew commercial.
  6. Before I just thought that all people were stupid, and it was pointless to try to change that. Now I know that it doesn't really matter because when you're with other skydivers, being stupid is an art form to be appreciated for its humor, twisted as it may be. That and sleeping in my jeep for a week at a time isn't homeless, it's camping on the DZ!
  7. T-shirt??? I thought we were going to win our own tunnel! Oh well, shirts are good too. Hey, where's the list to sign up for employment in the tunnel? Maybe my luck will hold out and I'll win that too!
  8. If you don't like the trailer, there's always the three room tent from Wal-Mart!
  9. I'll be making a guest loader appearance for all or part of it...7 AIRCRAFT, HOLY SHyTE! Fuel pump, don't fail me now!
  10. The line set is the tool used to position the person, but not what determines the ideal cg. It's like the chicken and the egg, only in this case you know which gets designed first. Dan said that is a function of the pressure distribution, which means that once that is known you can design the line lengths to put the person where you want him/her to achieve the most efficient use of that airfoil.
  11. Add my name to the list...ooh, and all I need is a reserve repack. I'm already saving you guys over a thousand dollars for AFF!!!
  12. Cheststrap not fastened??? Quade, I'm sorry. I thought I trained the new guys better. Ultimately it's the jumpers fault, but it's one of the major jobs of the loaders, so I hope frick and frack (which ever missed it) were talked to.
  13. The expressions on the nurse's face pretty much says it all.
  14. about jump number 12 I realized I needed to either get a weight belt or learn to FF. The range of control with FF is very appealing to me.
  15. How about number 12: My reserve is just out of date, and I don't have enough $ to get it repacked.
  16. That's pretty nice. Looking to expand?
  17. If they want to do it, they'll find a way. Dave, you nailed it with one sentance. There is no way to turn numbers around. They shouldn't be either. Skydiving gets a fairly steady influx of students, and it's what the sport can handle. More would be great, for business. But for the individual fun jumper, more just means longer calls, higher number of less experienced people in the air, and higher number (though maybe not rate) of deaths/incidents. People must choose to start, and choose to continue. You've accepted skydiving as completely realistic, but you're not going to change someone's mind if they don't want to accept it. I don't know of many other sports where it's not just a matter of going out and trying it, it's actually a whole different frame of mind. Maybe the eco challenge, or the Ididorod (sp), but at least those are comprised of things most people are familiar with.
  18. The idea is that you take the dogs as serious as the human. They are bothed trained as representatives of the law. If there was no serious punishment for killing the dog, then there is no way animal rights would allow a dog to be put in harms way as often as K-9 units are. I think they are a great thing, and should carry a very heavy penalty if harmed.
  19. I have some parachute material sewn onto the knee of my jumpsuit where the ground tried to rip it on it's 3rd jump. Holds my suit together, and makes one knee fall faster than the other. Pretty cool.
  20. Wow f1freak, you're just like an angry, bitter, Seinfeld. Been having a bad day?
  21. Poor guy. Soon his receding hair line will loose its figure. Does that mean the older he gets, the bigger he likes them?
  22. Maybe he's onto something. I laughed the hardest on the one about "Ken", and I feel somewhat guilty. Why is it funny that these conversations have a good chance of going that way? Ah what the hell, we all know why, and I'd never give up jumping to be a whuffo. There's too many good reasons to being a jumper that far out weigh the reasons to be a whuffo!
  23. If you can't talk sense into him, try to push the hop'n'pop, with a straight in approach. With everthing new and fast, it's the only way everyone else on the load will be safe. The scary part is low to the ground maneuvoring around in the landing pattern. He's not going to be used to the speed in which his responses will have to happen. Hell, with a 210 he's probably one of the last out so rarely has to worry about the "other guy factor". It's always the other guy who gets hurt in these situations. I still remember the canadian skyhawk who's para-career ended when the other guy with too small canopy made the wrong decision with too little time to correct. The other guy still jumps, the canadian has limiting back injuries for life. If you can't save one guy, save the other 20. How can he argue with that?
  24. Just trying to be funny, freeflir29. No need to say you have no fucking clue. Humor is not my strong point. But I do understand normal flight envelope, just disagreed with how you used it. Not saying it was wrong, I just didn't follow what you were getting at. I'm sure we've all had times when we've been reading and posting so much that we should take a break, but just keep right on going like it's a happy little drug. Sleep deprevation makes for wacky reading and posting. :)
  25. Thanks Jason. A lot of what you said sounds like what I learned while working at Perris. Though I have no formal training by going through Jim's school, I've watch tens of thousands of landings, and listened to what anybody had to say. After 9 months of that, I was coming to believe in what you were saying. As far as over-loaded, that was obvious back in Nov. when the guy tried to enter with a 3.1:1, and looked like a train wreck each time he tried the corse. Good luck finding the design sweet spot!
