Just out of curiosity...is it possible that the used in the necklaces is used as the reserve pin on a student rig? I am almost positive that during my last gear inspection, I saw that pin and it was in the same place as the reserve "seal"...I was told I don't want the end of that pin showing... Either way, the first thing I do when I get to the DZ Sat is check out that pin...all confused now. If you want to fly, get out of the plane! My Homepage My Blogger

Just want to clear the air, I completely understand that you don't wait for the AAD to pull the reserve, its a backup device and thats it. If I look up and see a bag of shit floating above my head, I am cutting and releasing my own chute. I was just trying to describe the pin that I THOUGHT was the that pin. Just wanted to let everyone know that I had no intention of letting the AAD pull my chute. If you want to fly, get out of the plane! My Homepage My Blogger

Wow, quick response, found what I wanted AND learned about the pin. Thanks for the information guys! If you want to fly, get out of the plane! My Homepage My Blogger

I've seen some peeps at my DZ this past weekend and they were wearing necklaces (or chokers) that had the pin that the ADD uses to release the reserve chute I believe. I forgot to ask them before I left, but I was wondering if anyone has seen these somewhere (either online or in the MA area) Thanks If you want to fly, get out of the plane! My Homepage My Blogger

Correct, I've completed levels 1 - 5. I had to redo level 4 because of my bad body position and inability to stop a left had turn . I've jumped with Jay, PT, Bob, and Rik and they have all been really cool and great sources of information. If you want to fly, get out of the plane! My Homepage My Blogger

Shit you know you ARE right...I really need to update the old website...I guess I'll do that tonight...I mean..I can't really think of anything thats happened since November 11th of last year though. Actually, I can put up my skydiving pics for the world to see! Hehe... Anyways, thanks for all the support guys and gals. I figured it had to be normal. Anyways, I'm hooked, I could sh*t my pants before every flight and I could promise you that I would be jumping with stained shorts! If you want to fly, get out of the plane! My Homepage My Blogger

I was just wondering if anyone else gets pre-jump jitters? I've only jumped 9 times, but everytime I get into the plane, I get REALLY nervous. I don't know why, I'm not afraid of dying or anything...I actually can't think of any time that I have been worried about my chute not opening etc... But I do get sick to my stomache everytime I reach about 11,000ft and I think about jumping from the plane. AS soon as I get to the door and focus on the jump, I have the BEST fricken time of my life and I wanna do it again... Anyone else have the same feelings? If you want to fly, get out of the plane! Well, the weekend finally came and I was all hyped up to get out jumping. I arrived a my DZ (Jumptown - Orange, MA) around 9:30 in the am. It was a beautiful day out. I got to get one jump in, my AFF3 and it went pretty well. It was really busy and the wind started picking up so I decided that I would meet up with some friends a catch a movie (Reign of Fire) I was determined to get more jumps in on Sunday. So I arrived bright and early at 8am and signed up for the first load for my AFF4 jump. I was all ready, got in the plane, reached altitude, got to the door and jumped..... Well, it turned out to be the WORST jump I've done. I had bad body position from the start. FOr the entire jump I pretty much pinwheeled myself to the ground...my JM said I was moving too fast for him to jump in a stop me without himself getting kicked by my flailing legs. I pull and my chute opens just fine. I then proceed to land about 300 - 400 feet of course, sucky. I didn't even want to talk to anyone, it was SO bad. During debreifing, I talked with my JM about my lackings and I was able to mentally correct them..so I signed up to do the jump again. This time my body was perfect but my turns were still off (atleast I could control them this time). We decided that I would move onto the next level because it was practically the same as the one I just completed. Needless to say, I nailed the final jump. I had perfect body position, my turns were no more than 10 - 15 degrees off...hell I even landed standing up. The moral of the story is, for all you beginners like me and all you advanced jumpers, any jump were you land safely is a good jump. The rest is just details. Practice and practice and take the advice of the helpful people at your DZ. If you want to fly, get out of the plane! My Homepage My Blogger

Now the next question....whats a good place to order a suit and whats a good "brand" suit? If you want to fly, get out of the plane! My Homepage My Blogger

Ok, that makes sense. Thanks for all the info, I'll start with a good RW suit. If you want to fly, get out of the plane! My Homepage My Blogger

I am wondering if someone can give me a good lead on a "universal" jump suit. Skybytch gave me a REAL good link with information about the differences in suits for freefallers and RW.... The thing is...I am looking for a suit that I can get now that isn't too specific. I want something that will let me explore both options (at least the basics). Any ideas? Oh yah, seeing how this is my first suit, I am looking for in expensive! If you want to fly, get out of the plane! My Homepage My Blogger

I was just curious about the landings that some of you have done... My 2nd AFF jump last weekend had a rather interesting landing. I flared, my feet touched the ground and then I managed to land on my arse. I then proceded to drag for about 2 feet. Nothing painful, I hit softly, but it was still rather funny. Any other interesting stories? If you want to fly, get out of the plane! My Homepage My Blogger

I read that really good link, but I am looking for a generic jump suit. Something that would let me experiment with freeflying and rw. Thanks If you want to fly, get out of the plane! My Homepage My Blogger

I'm researching my first gear options and right now I am looking at the different flight suits that are available. I was looking through ParaGears website and saw that they have MANY different types of suits. I'm not really sure what I should get for a novice jumper thats not too expensive. If it matters, I weigh 160lbs and I am about 6'1"... Any info would be helpful! Thanks If you want to fly, get out of the plane! My Homepage My Blogger

I didn't get to make a second jump, I left around 4 to meet up with some friends. But, I am soon to be on my way back there to see if I can squeeze in a couple more jumps before the weekend ends. Hopefully the weather out there is better than my house right now.... If you want to fly, get out of the plane! My Homepage My Blogger

I just have a couple questions: 1. Can someone explain the ratios associated with mains? 2. What does RW stand for? I understand what it is, but just curious about the exact name. I think thats it for now...I am sure I'll have more questions the more I become involved with the sport. Thanks! If you want to fly, get out of the plane! My Homepage My Blogger

I originally wanted to skydive because it was something that just looked like a GREAT time...but after I did my first jump, I was hooked. But the reason I believe that I love to jump is because I have this "fantasy" of flying. Now that I am working my way up, I am now motivated to develop my technique.
