Quote Hopefully he does train and become more "CLEAN" with his aerials. Aerials are sooooo 1990's May we live long and die out

Watching the jump of the TARd, the canopy may have some air in as he jumps off, but it doesn't inflate until he hits line stretch. The canopy is actually falling with him a little ways. Had someone been holding a d-bag above him, i would think he would have gotten almost the same opening distance if not less. He would hit line stretch sooner, there by starting the opening a hair quicker. I've done about a dozen d-bags from around a 130ft and have held the bag on many others. From the bagmans view, the canopy seems to open about 20ft away. If you simply toss a canopy off something will it inflate and fly? I don't think so, it has to have the weight on the lines to open. So the faster you can transfer that weight to the canopy the faster it will open. so it seems (to me anyway) that having the canopy stay at the exit, instead of falling with you, would give a faster opening. so at this particular location, has anyone tried to d-bag it? I don't think you would have a prob. landing with brakes stowed and a good plf It was sick jump though very nice May we live long and die out

All i know is that I'm glad this doesn't have anything to do with North Carolina, specifically EASTERN North Carolina
-
Quite frankly Leroy, if they would have done that on DZ. com long ago, North Carolina would have been a lot less known about . It was your antics that got things stirred up. I believe The first time I saw John Hayes post on here it was about you taking an AFF student out for a base jump and what he should do about it. May we live long and die out

IN case any on this board weren't aT THE video contest at the Holiday Inn on Thur night at Bridge day. These guys showed a Video titled " DAY BLAZEN" by Eastern North Carolina crew. THey showed all of their little day jumps at these same towers in question, I think they actually won a prize for it. It was edited by John Hayes and included jumps by Leroy and others. Most of the sites shown are burnt now. John, if you don't have anything to do with these guys? Then why were they all in the video?? Feel free to blame me, since i took you on your first jump. No offense but it looks to me like you just brainlocked, just like that guy who flew into the wires down there you had plenty of altitude and time to make a turn into the wind. It's quite common to do 180's and land there without any problem, even with longer delays then you took. Didn't you have your landings preplanned? If no, then why not? Also the shadows don't look too long on the ground, what time of day was this? Since you guys have lost three towers of late, I would've thought you might be more careful. On that note, right after the hanging on the wire episode, one of our towers up here has brand new razor wire and locks. Maybe they were watching CNN also. Of course if landing in the day is that hard, maybe night jumps aren't such a good idea try to stay in one piece Mike May we live long and die out

I'll agree that, cussing in loud voices (was) and is unacceptable behavior. I might even agree that the cutting of the badge and not being allowed to jump the rest of the day was acceptable. I do not agree with the childlike temper tantrum e-mail that you sent to said jumper. I have read the email, but have not talked to him about it, so my opinions are my own. Exactly what type of "true" feelings are you going to share with him if you meet him in person? Is in in your powers to have him arrested for simply being a spectator at the next BD, as you state. He's not out to destroy all you have worked for with his little stunt. He's not a disgrace to every jumper in the world, as you claim, nor is he scum as you also state. I don't feel like he jeopardized, my chances to jump at any future BD, nor yours. Where is the heat you promised to pour down on his head? What do I think? I think you need to get a grip man. I think he was just an overly excited jumper. To quote you " if you have a problem with any of the above, I'll be more than happy to discuss it wherever, whenever in person" sincerely MIke Bartlett May we live long and die out

If you don't like my rules, there will always be someone else waiting anxiously to take your Bridge Day slot. If you come to Bridge Day 2005 and cuss (or prompt other lemmings to do so), you will also be banned. It's only "your" rules if your proposal is chosen at the beginning of every year , or have you locked in some kind of contract for multiple years? Since there is no cussing, how do you feel about my velcro closed pants that can be ripped off in a flash? It should be a crowd pleaser
-
The offending jumper didn't actually cuss, so why cut his badge? Why not the jumpers who actuallly yelled out the offensive words? There ain't know such thing as "live" Tv anymore. There was a delay built into the broadcast of at least 10 secs. It may have been in poor taste, but what do you expect from BASEjumpers? If you are going to censor one , then why not all? The bridge days of old were more caranaval like and more fun. Now we have Military and checkpoints, censors and speech police. The future doesn't look so bright. 2004 looks and sounds a lot like "1984" May we live long and die out

very nice! May we live long and die out

I was out of town this last weekend so I couldn't come to this meeting. I am very interested to know what was said, as it will probably effect me, since we share some of the same objects. I'll be at bridge day if anyone wants to discuss it. Thanks Mike May we live long and die out

just some old ratty stuff that's not very fun to jump THe best stuff USE to be East. May we live long and die out

Simply amazing. A note to Fayetteville jumpers, please stay east of the Pee Dee river, unless invited otherwise. Thanks A Charlotte local. I do hope other tower owners don't see this and take measures to secure their's better. This could have ramifications beyond one tower May we live long and die out

general reply you'll only hit a wire if you open above it. If you can't out track them, then pull below them.. May we live long and die out

I'll be there, with my thong May we live long and die out

John hayes Gave my pet sheep the clap, I'll never share anything with him ever again! May we live long and die out

personally, When i'm jumping less then 150ft, it's a d-bag or static line. I don't trust many to hold just my PC May we live long and die out
-
It somewhat depends on how high or low you want to stage the opening. If you want a higher opening, then pull everything out while the bridle is s-folded all the way to line stretch. For a longer delay and increased distance from the object, feed out the entire bridle to the PC. Me personally, don't like having a hanging Pc and or bridle folded in my hand when it is snatched. I'll hold the s-fold together, just past the tug of velcro and canopy lift, then let the bridle deploy out and switch the hand over as the last fold is taken. Snatching the canopy out with the left hand first is somewhat of a extra safety. May we live long and die out
-
personally I think holding the s/fold is right also, except after lifting the shrivel flap and canopy out of the container, i let the bridle go to full stretch, transfering that hand over to the pc(which is already gripped tight ) I keep a hold on the mushroomed Pc till the weight of the jumpers pulls it from my hand. The Pc is mushroomed in a way to take the stress off the center line and transfered on to the mesh. Basically it just gets sucked away. It keeps anything from entangling me, and or getting burned or cut from the bridle. Just my opinion Mike May we live long and die out

Wind across a microphone, doesn't mean much, any little bit of wind will sound loud. I was refering to the point of the video where he is standing on the ice shield, no longer shielded from the wind. The amount of flappage on his clothes didn't look severe. and yes it was bright, hope it wasn't anyones baby May we live long and die out

Those guys must not have spent much time on Antennas, if they are calling those winds "nuclear" His pants legs were barely flapping. In these parts, we might call that a slight breeze May we live long and die out

We use to have a water tower that we jumped several times. We bagged it and landed on a golf course, it was 135ft, and I had enough time to pop brakes and flair,. They're fun, go for it! May we live long and die out

Although I may have been amused or confused. base 515 made it to the other side to find out he didnt like it.. BASE 515 it takes some pretty big BLUE balls to admit that.. Id jump with ya, and not think twice.. chicken man For the record, i was being sarcastic in that remark. Base700 did ask me to do that, but i turned him down. i don't care how much money he offered, i wasn't going to do it.! May we live long and die out
