Pretty much my thoughts exactly, though I'm an agnostic not atheist. If someone died/risked their life for this country they could put an f'ing pentagram for all I care. It doesn't really make a difference to me what religious symbols a cemetery uses for people's beliefs as long as they aren't using tax money to prosthelytize. I look forwards to waxing philosophical with DanG at orange The feather butts bounce off ya like raindrops hitting a battle-star when they come in too fast...kinda funny to watch. - airtwardo

Obama says Skydivers don't care about kids.

You're going to love the DZ, especially if you're going to Orange. It's almost impossible to be 'Politically Incorrect.' Thank god, living in the DC metro area I have to bite my tongue REAL hard pretty much every day. Especially not being of the blue voter crowd which is the norm here. Back on topic, just came across this article regarding approved tax breaks from 2009 for guess what, PRIVATE JET SALES: http://washingtonexaminer.com/blogs/beltway-confidential/2011/06/flashback-ap-stimulus-includes-tax-break-promote-private-jet-sale The feather butts bounce off ya like raindrops hitting a battle-star when they come in too fast...kinda funny to watch. - airtwardo -

What are you trying to say, that parents should be more responsible for their offspring? What's next, parents should be the ones to decide what their kids eat, what video games they can play, what tv shows they can watch? hahaha right, we're not smart enough to raise our own children, that's what government is for. should I throw in a sarcasm tag? I like your thinking airtwardo. Especially hot sky-chicks Thanks a lot for the replies so far. I have to say, being the last one on board for my tandem did suck ass. My ass was half-off the bench and I basically had to use my legs to push myself up as we were going up really steeply. Like semi-squats the whole way up. Good think I have massive thighs for the hot sky chicks to sit on. Benefits to being a bigger jumper?
charlie5 replied to charlie5's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
At 6'4" and 219 i wouldn't call the OP that big tho.... He's pretty tall, so his fall rate shouldn't be ballistic. That's true, my height should help. I'll have to find REALLY baggy jumpsuits. Any recommendations? The feather butts bounce off ya like raindrops hitting a battle-star when they come in too fast...kinda funny to watch. - airtwardo -

Benefits to being a bigger jumper?
charlie5 replied to charlie5's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
So I just weighed myself, finally under 220, now I just need to save up a little more to start License A. (wanting to skydive has been a great motivator in getting me to exercise everyday and diet). Question: are there any positive aspects to being a bigger jumper? I'm 6'4'' 219 now. Would it help with stability, canopy control etc? Other than falling like a rock, what are the other cons? I hope to get down to 200. The feather butts bounce off ya like raindrops hitting a battle-star when they come in too fast...kinda funny to watch. - airtwardo -

If you REALLY want to do this assignment then you'll find away to make it work. My ex volunteered with the UN (which she hated because of the lazy work ethic) and then took a peace corps assignment in the DR even though they don't really pay you anything either, but she knows it'll open up more doors later. She's got 4 months left and already started to get job offers from a lot of places. That's something you should consider, which you stated already have. It's a big factor. Again, if you want to do it, do it. Bartend if you have to. The feather butts bounce off ya like raindrops hitting a battle-star when they come in too fast...kinda funny to watch. - airtwardo

REALLY well fitting contacts AND goggles. Even then, shit happens. My vision is about -6.5 in both eyes and landing without a contact takes all my concentration, all my skill from many years of canopy flying and not a small amount of luck. It's a shitty place to be. If you're worried about it, wear prescription goggles or glasses with goggles that fit over them. You may not look the coolest on the DZ, but you look better like that than you do rolling around the landing area clawing at the ground after blowing the landing because you couldn't see properly. Edit: re Sorz goggles - I tried a pair and they simply didn't fit the shape of my face well. I don't think there's a simple, single answer - the foam surround is what you're looking for to minimise air leakage, but try on as many pairs as possible. I'm in the same boat, -6.5. Losing one contact would be a pain, both, terrifying. perhaps the perscription goggle route as someone stated would be good. Or as you said, googles on top of glasses. Then people can call me SIX eyes lol. The feather butts bounce off ya like raindrops hitting a battle-star when they come in too fast...kinda funny to watch. - airtwardo
