What's the story of the Precision/Icarus/NZ Aero relationship?
grue replied to grue's topic in Skydiving History & Trivia
Hopefully someone has something more indepth than what I can see on the Icarus "about us…" page cavete terrae. -
Wouldn't surprise me. I loved that book but it didn't feel quite right. I haven't seen any lists or anything of books he actually wrote vs were ghost written, though cavete terrae.

My insurance when I left the US was $87/month for basic "low turn" insurance. According to CoveredCA, if I move back to California it'll cost me $315/mo for the worst insurance, which has 3x the deductible and higher copays Get fucked, I'll pay the fine. cavete terrae.

Front risers - how much do they need to move?
grue replied to PixieUK's topic in Safety and Training
If it even has dive loops. A lot of student and rental rigs don't. cavete terrae. -
Yeah I just said on fbook that debt of honor was the last book I think he actually wrote. Maybe rainbow 6. cavete terrae.

unless things have changed, I seem to recall that A-license students under USPA could have the requirement to use the front risers waivered if they had insufficient upper body strength to operate them, so I don't know why they'd get all derpy about it over there (though of course the BPA and a good portion of the UK in general does have a very beige-cardigan reputation). I'd say your instructor should probably take up a canopy at .65 and see how well he can pull on 'em. cavete terrae. -
New case makes a huge difference to me, actually. I can't fit a GoPro 3 in the mount on my helmet without hacking up the mount as I learned last night, but if the case is a little bit narrower I might be able to. Basically the WiFi button makes it a bit too wide I'll still dremel the thing if I have to, but I'd rather not since the whole point is it being a low-snag mount. cavete terrae.

It's awesome. I actually bought it on release day purely by chance for my Kindle (I didn't know it was a new book until later), and was enthralled.speaking of book, where are mine you know the ones you said you sent You never received that parcel?!? cavete terrae.

Am I losing my mind? I swear to god the sites were all saying 1080p120, 720p240 last night but are now back to 1080p60 and 720p120 cavete terrae.

Your equipment very likely weighs more than you're estimating. It won't make a huge difference, but you might as well get it right. 20 pounds was always the rough estimate I was told to use for the equipment. I should weigh myself one day with all my stuff on just to be exactly sure. My rig alone is 10kg. That's for an Infinity I66N, Fusion 190, Smart 220. Granted I'm a bigger guy and thus use a bigger rig, but that's before jumpsuit, helmet, altimeter, etc. cavete terrae.

Allegedly better battery, clarity, wifi. No mention of if they're still buggier than Paris Hilton's panties. cavete terrae.

Xenu willing, I would like to see this. cavete terrae.

Yeah I'll hang out. Meet me at the main entrance of Circus Circus at 3am. I'll be in a suit with an earpiece in. cavete terrae.

That's the killer. It's already a damned expensive sport, do we really want to be raising the cost of entry if we don't have to? Hell, my FJC, 25 jumps, USPA membership and A license cost me under $900. I don't mean back in the 70s, this was in the mid 2000s. If I was looking at $3k for the same thing, I wouldn't be a jumper today. cavete terrae.
-
That's the gist of why I'm trying to find an AFF FJC for my brother. Probably will end up taking him to see the couch freaks Yep... this "macho" / "better than you" / 'homophobic" / "Red Bull" attitude is exactly why so many AFF jumps which are "first jump EVER" go so badly. Dunning-Kruger is alive and well here.... Perhaps. I've spoken to him about it and he'll do a tandem if he has to, but as he isn't yet sure if he wants to just do one jump or get his license, he feels that if he only does a tandem he won't have any feeling of accomplishing anything as he'd essentially just be a passenger. Never having done a tandem myself, I cannot realistically tell him otherwise. cavete terrae.

Out of curiosity, have you had your extraction force tested with your main still in the pack tray? That's the first thing I wonder when someone says their rigger doesn't like how tight their reserve is. cavete terrae.

buddy of mine at my old DZ threw his gear in his trunk to leave at end of day, got talked into one more load. Turns out he pushes in his hackey to store in the trunk… or he used to! cavete terrae.
