Jumping in 110 degree heat; The Pros and Cons.
grue replied to jclalor's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
One of the best jumps I ever had was a sunset cross country on a scorching hot day. Took close to an hour to get the 206 all the way to altitude with all of us fatasses on board, but we deployed out the door, enjoyed a tasty beverage under canopy, and felt the delicious cool air at altitude… then the poor fuckers without the good glide ratio like mine had to walk back to the DZ cavete terrae. -

It's a "real" sport, but I'd say that as a COMPETITIVE sport I can only take the objectively judged parts seriously, such as accuracy, speed, etc, same as anything else. cavete terrae.

I just watched the footage from my first-ever time in the tunnel…
grue replied to grue's topic in The Bonfire
One of the tunnel instructors I talked to told me this happens all the time with experienced skydivers who have never been in the tunnel before. It's a completely different set of visual clues in there, and takes some getting used to. Yeah similar case with me. second time I looked substantially better, and you could see the improvement each round, but still… damn cavete terrae. -
I saw 'em at the grocery store here in Australia the other day and grabbed a pair for my girlfriend and I. Hadn't had 'em in… I dunno, probably close to 15 years, and boy was it good. cavete terrae.

This is VERY IMPORTANT scientific research. Also it is known, the three best flavors are: Tied for first: Brown Sugar & Cinnamon, Frosted Strawberry Third: Frosted Grape. Honorable mention: Red Velvet, because the filling honestly looks like jizz and it's so horrifying they deserve respect. cavete terrae.

I forgot to update this post to note the bike was stolen in February …so which one of you fuckers is the stalker who has my bike now? cavete terrae.

Oh I definitely know that's the way to look at it, I was just kinda horrified because I'd never seen the footage in the first place, I never watched it after the session cavete terrae. -

Science cannot explain how embarrassed I was to take that stroll down memory lane. This is the script: INT: GRUE'S HOUSE - LIVING ROOM A MAN is going through stuff on a bookshelf. We see only his shoulder and upper back as we peer over him at the pile of DVDs and books. MAN Oh wow my first tunnel DVD. That was a long time ago, I wonder how I looked C/U: DVD being inserted into drive Wide: Man, from behind, sitting on couch in foreground. We see only his head as he watches a large television playing in background. INT - PERRIS TUNNEL A FAT MAN flails about like an AFF-1 student who fell out without his instructors. JUMP CUT: INT - PERRIS TUNNEL A FAT MAN flails about on his back like an autistic whale throwing a sky tantrum JUMP CUT: Extreme C/U: Eyes, showing horror. We zoom out, showing MAN from the front for the first time. He's skinnier now, but has the thousand yard stare of a combat veteran. MAN But… but… I'm better now? Right? This was so many years ago!! The man weeps. FADE TO BLACK cavete terrae. -

Oh my goodness this is fantastic. I've been thinking I need to go east on my next trip to the US and now I have even more reason to do so. cavete terrae.
