As far as I know, you cannot bend it without damaging/disabling it. I posted the pic of my CCM (Cranial Camera Mount) with the HypEye lit up in the HypEye thread that you started. The LED from the Optima is right next to it, though not clear from the pic I posted. I'll try to take a close up shot so you can see how I have the HypEye and LED on my ring site (without having to bend the LED) tomorrow. Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

On my "play" helmet, my HypEye is nowhere near my eyes, see Rawa below. I basically wanted something without anything in front of my eyes for the Rawa. However, on my "serious business" helmet (Cranial Camera Mount), it's on my ring site, but that's also because I also have an LED coming from my L&B Optima attached to it, otherwise I'd mount it else where. Side note: My CCM's ring site swivels out of the way for when I'm under canopy. The HypEye (I only have the older style) is bright enough to see out of the corner of my eyes on the Rawa, or on the reflection of any surface. I love it! OH, and I know the pics are a bit out of focus... but i was in a hurry, and didn't wanna retake them. Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

Nice one Justin! I'm sure Cameron LOVE's it! I went by the Hillz yesterday and they said he was home taking care of his back. Hope to see him back in the air soon! You gonna be jumping this weekend? Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

I just upsized my Reserve as well! I have a Wings (W-4) which was designed to hold a PD-113R. I had a Tempo 120 in there (tight fit) and just upsized to the new PD Optimum 143 Reserve.

At Skydive Palatka (in Florida), Hop-N-Pops are $10 from 3,500', and $11.50 from 5,000'. Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

Visual for Swooping (Was - audible for swooping?)
JGarcia replied to Bolas's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
That may have been a fluke. I've had my VISO fully submerged and it had no problems whatsoever. Even if water gets into the hole for the speaker, it will not damage or affect it's function. In fact, I know of at least 2 people who have had their VISO's fully submerged following a rough pond swoop/landing that didn't have it encased by the Protektor. However, in each case, a few mins out in the sun, and the units were fully functional again. I'd still reccomend using the Proteketor though...that's why they're available. Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam! -
I own 2 standard Gath helmets, and just got a Gath RV. I too think that they offer more than enough protection from the standard bumps, scratches, and bruises to be had in this sport. I also own several other skydiving helmets (Oxygn, Rawa, Wes Rich Custom CCM), but I still really like how low profile the Gath's are... and they actually protect my noggin much better than a wet paper bag! Damn, Ian...you're alright! I don't care what Shimell says! I just sent SARLDO a PM letting him know all of Angela's contact information, and to let him know that I'm a Mortgage Banker as well just in case he's needing to get the financing end squared away. I think you should move to the ORL area, that way you won't have to drive so far to come hang out with Angela and I! I strongly disagree that Nicodemus' question is rather pointless. If the original poster's profile information is correct, then he should have a very good idea of the helmets that are available and popular. D-Licensed, 1200 jumps, and 9 years in the sport? Yeah, I think he's very aware that the Gath or Gedi aren't gonna offer him as much protection as, say, a Sky System's Oxygn. If he'd want one of those, then he'd be asking for comparisons & opinions of that helmet. However, he asked about the Gedi vs. a standard Gath. Not a Gedi vs. everything else available , or vs. a wet paper bag. Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

I agree with you that many other hard shell helmets offer more protection from hard impacts to the skull than the Gath; however, the original poster wasn't asking for a comparison with other hard shell helmets. He was asking for a comparison (if anyone has one) between the Gedi and the standard Gath. So a comparison with a wet paper bag, or anything other than a standard Gath is rather patronizing and quite pointless in this specific thread.

Visual for Swooping (Was - audible for swooping?)
JGarcia replied to Bolas's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Ian, I'm not exactly sure what the issues were. It may have been due to the offset issues; however, I did hear some of them talk about their Neptunes just shutting off. I'll call around and see if I can find out from Delibac what his specific issues were. You can also call Shimell, he was one of the ones saying he was wanting to switch over from the Neptune to the VISO Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam! -

I personally prefer the VISO -
I know of someone else who just went through an extremely negative experience with Aerodyne, and their promises to deliver a canopy and rig that were repeatedly broken. I'll see if he'll post his experience up on this thread. Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

Have you worn a wet paper bag over your head for protection? Have you worn a standard Gath over your head for protection? If you have, then you wouldn't be answering his question with your question. I own about 6 different helmets, including a Sky System's Oxygn A3, a Gath RV, and a Shoei Mortocycle helmet. The FACT is that a starndard Gath does offer MUCH more protection from bumps and abbrasions than a wet paper bag ever could, or nothing at all. Will it help keep your skull intact if you fail to fly your canopy to the ground safely and have a high speed collision with the oncoming planet? Of course not. At that point, a Crash rated helmet (not a skydiving helmet) would be your best bet. To the original poster... contact Larina at Gath directly via email: larina@gathsports.com. She'll be able to answer any questions you may have. At the very least, she'll be able to provide you a much more accurate comparison between the starndard Gath, and the Gedi. Hey Jason... I'm an Instructor out at Palatka. If you've just started jumping it's possible we haven't met, as I've been away for most of the weekends in the past couple months competing in the CPC Swoop Competitions. I jump an Ouragan Freefly Suit for most of my jumps, though I have an old Tony RW suit that I use from time to time. As the previous poster wrote, there are a TON of other jumpsuit manufacturers. Talk with a few instructors next time you're at the DZ for their opinion on the various manufacturers. Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

Hello... I'm not sure what the volume is, however I can tell you that my Xaos-27 93 (which you'll see in the classifieds soon bec it's for sale! )fits in a bag/container made for a standard 135 sq ft canopy. Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

It's just Psychological warfare, my friend. When the other competitors see my GUNS, they have no choice but to cower in the back of the plane. ...or is that just because I farted?? I dunno. Damn! OK...You got me Ian! BUT...I never said that Vanity didn't play into the whole skydiving/swooping scene. Like Mischa said, you gotta look good... If ya look good, you feel good, and you skydive & swoop that bit better. Although I agree that the Man-Pris offer very little protection, the first thing I did with my MX pants (yeah, the $60 ones) was cut off the cuff at the bottom, and hem them into Man-Pris! . ...And while I love my full face Oxygn for the protection and silence, I bought the Gath RV because I don't like that you can't see my facial expression when I grace photographer's lenses with my swoops! ... Besides, it came in a very nice deep & shiny blue that GathSports just started producing!! Furthermore, Your Honor, yeah, I drive a Porsche, but I got her on Ebay and paid about a third of what they are worth new :-P I did say that you gotta love vanity, right? I'll see everyone, their tight shirts, non protective head gear, and Man-Pris soon... Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

That's why L&B have the "Protektor." If you use the Protektor, it will not only will your Optima/Solo/VISO be waterproof, it'll also give you a MUCH easier way to mount it to your helmet. And yes, it will still be waterproof despite there being an opening for the speaker. And to keep the thread on topic... I have two helmets that I use for swooping: A full face Oxygn with face shield removed, and a Gath RV I just picked up. The jury is still out on my prefered choice, I love both of them for different reasons. Furthermore, I've gotta say I completely agree with Mike/Frost/Mischa & Chuck... the Man-Pris offer a ridiculously small amount of protection! It seriously amazes me that people will spend HUNDREDS of dollars on these swoop shorts, when you can get MX pants for $60! Gotta love vanity! Unfortunately, the EMS that responded to this incident were looking around at each other asking, "what do you think we should do?" followed by, "I don't know, what do you think we should do??" "Do we treat this as Trauma?". Seriously?! I hope my life never depends on the appropriate response & actions of the crew that responded to this emergency Sunday morning. --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

Seriously? Come down to one of the Southeast CPC Competitions next season, and then let me know if you still think the swooping is out of control. We have some of the best canopy pilots competing, many of which can out-fly the "pro" competitors. We are Canopy Pilots, not "out of control" beer-line swoopers. Furthermore, judges are very quick to hand out "yellow cards" to any pilots who seem to be out of control, whether it be in their set-up, turn, or landing. Sure, having an ambulance on stand-by may not be such a bad idea! However, the ill timing of this comment, in addition to the rude remarks made by the staff towards "swoopers" that were helping to catch Tandems in the 25+ mph winds (swoopers who also happened to be Tandem I's and Tandem I/E's) definitely served as the straw that broke the camel's back in many of the competitor's minds. --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

I bought my Porsche Boxster on Ebay from an exotic cars "dealer". They had great feedback and TONS of pictures of the car...even of the slight scratch it had on the door handle inside the car. Overall it was a great experience, and wouldn't hesitate to do it again for my next car! Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

I have the same gripes with my HC3. Yeah, it's HD, and the picture looks incredible, but editing with it SUCKS if you're used to shooting and editing right on the camera as your DVD records linearly. --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

I definitely agree with what Steve had to say in the previous post. ... and let's not forget who finished last at last year's CPC meet at Z-Hillz! That was a seriously humbling experience, but I used it to learn and break down exactly what my weak points were. After all, that's what these competitions are about! You're getting better and better each competition... you know it, and so do your fellow competitors. You were definitely missed those last two rounds. Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam! -
I used this modification during the CPC meet at the Hillz. It actually felt great! It made a noticeable difference in the way the canopy felt on rears, especially coming out of the "corner" for that nice sling-shot effect. . If nothing else, it eliminated having to go up and around the orginal guide ring to get to the top of the rears. Congrats on 3rd place Mike...
