  1. ... Check out the original post (3rd paragraph)... Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!
  2. For what I do, I rarely need horizontally framed stills and video. However, if I needed to, I can move the Still camera all the way to one side, and mount my PC series DV camera right next to it. I can also mount multiple video camera's on it (side by side) if I needed to. The flash, on the stills with flash pics, isn't just attatched via the hot-shoe attatchent. There's a small carbon fiber L-braket that the flash is braced with, in addidion to bracing via the hot shoe. Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!
  3. Check out this thread to see how I have my HC3 mounted. Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!
  4. And FINALLY, here are the pics of the Horizontal Stills, with Flash (No Video) configuration. Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!
  5. Here are the pics of the horizontal Stills-only configuration (no flash). Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!
  6. Here are the pics of Video (Sony HC3) only. Notice that it actually moves to the center of the helmet's top plate for excellent weight distribution and balance. Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!
  7. Below are the pics of the helmet with the 2 cameras, no flash. Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!
  8. Here are some pics of the CCM with the Canon XT, Sony HC3, and Canon 580 EX flash. You'll notice that there's an L&B Optima mounted externally on the top plate. There is an internal speaker that is wired within the helmet and also an LED that is hooked up to the ring sight that flashes at my preset warning altitudes. Mounting it externally makes it easy to adjust without having to take it in and out of a pocket to adjust the altitudes. It also keeps the helmet more streamlined since it doesn't have to fit it within the shell. Oh, and the ring sight is also engineered so that it swivels out of the way after opening. This is very nice for when it fogs up in the FL weather. Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!
  9. So I've had a few request to post my Cranial Camera Mount, made by Wes Rich of Rim World Video in DeLand, FL. I've been flying cameras for quite a number of years now and always said that when I had the $$, I'd get the ultimate camera helmet from Wes. I've been a big fan of his work for a very long time, and finally I decided to go for it. In mid-June, my buddy Jason Jerusalem and I went over to Wes' shop to get our noggin's molded for these one of a kind helmets (our CCMs were the #73rd and 74th ones that Wes has built). Yes, the wrapping process is VERY clausterphobic, and not the most comfortable thing in the world. However, you'll see that the final result was definitely worth it. What makes these helmets different is the attention to detail and the comfort of the helmet. Since it's molded specifically to the shape of your head, it needs very little padding and is very comfortable. I LOVE the looks of the helmet, but its functionality is what makes it stand out from the rest. Within seconds, I can go from Video Only, to Video & Stills, to Video/stills/flash, to Stills Only, to Stills/Flash. All this without the need of quick releases! Furthermore, all the wiring lies within the helmet, so that nothing is exposed or has to be tucked away with gaffer's tape. When not doing stills, the tongue switch basically detatches from the chin area of the helmet. And it's freaking light! At its heaviest (with a Canon Digital Rebel XT, Sigma 15mm lens, Cannon Speedlight 580 EX with all the batteries, & Sony HC3 with Raynox HD Wide Angle Lens, it weigh's 8.0 lbs. However, all this did not come cheap! The helmet, and all the custom carbon fiber mounts (1 for each camera, and 2 for the flash, depending what configuration I am going to shoot with), and 2 custom tongue switches, cost $2,250. Keep in mind that the ring site, and HypeEye, and all camera gear are extra. I've jumped quite a few camera helmets, and still l prefer my Rawa for all my freefly jumps and AFF jumps. But if you're serious about photography and flying camera, I feel the hefty price tag and the looooong wait (15 weeks) are definitely worth it for functionality, flexibility, and comfort you gain with this helmet. Since this post would get even longer with the different set ups that the helmet allows, I'll break it up into several posts. Below, you'll see a few pictures of the molding process. Enjoy the pics :) --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!
  10. Ummm... if you're gonna quote me, shouldn't it be something I actually said? Nevermind that you only got 2 words right, we were talking about the radar gun clocking the speed not the distance of his swoop! LOL... it's all good though, Jeiber knows his swoops are kicking some serious ass (even though the radar gun lied!) Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!
  11. Yeah, as long as you flare with the front risers at about 20-25 ft, you'll have a pretty good swoop (you'll be wearing 25 lbs of weight, right?)...well, at least you'll be getting more distance/speed than Jeiber's pansie-assed "swoops!"
  12. Anywhere over the St. John's river would work. I'll just swoop the river. Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!
  13. It's good for you! It'll clear your mind of anything, and make your jump go that much smoother...provided you regain consciousness in time. Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!
  14. That was 55 mph, into quite a considereable headwind...It's all good though, I'm just glad we got the same speed, otherwise, neither of us would be resting easily this week. Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!
  15. Just about every other week... unless I end up driving it to the DZ that weekend...then it usually gets washed immediately the next weekday to get rid of all the effing bugs....yeah, I live in FL so recently it's been the love bugs. Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!
  16. I wouldn't exactly say contained, but rather spent. I didn't have any left for Julio's load. And I'm sure Julio's ass was a bit too puckered for anything to be escaping it. He played it off rather well, though. For the most part, he was calm, cool, and collected. I'll be sure to give him a taste of Hushpuppies and Apple Sauce this weekend! . Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!
  17. Depends... are you asking if gas was being passed when Julio made his AFF jump, or when Jeiber alleges he was hurt by a girl 1/4th his size? I don't think there was any gas passed on Julio's load...I had emptied out on every other load that day though. You would've enjoyed them!. Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!
  18. Mike...It's not the website, it's you! LOL...Send me the original pic (JairoFlies@aol.com). I'll resize it for you and and you'll be able to breathe again and use it as your avatar! Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!
  19. WTF...? LOL.... where you typing so fast that nothing actually showed up on the screen? Jeiber, unlike the radar gun clocking our swoops, the keyboard cant catch the flailing of your fingers(legs, in the other case) and mistake it for letters/words (speed, in the other case). Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!
  20. OMG... Here was the list of people that stayed overnight in the classroom this past Saturday nite: Jeiber Canada Jairo Angela Tommy the Pilot Dakine Jim The following were the ones that were snoring ALL NIGHT: Jeiber Canada Tommy the Pilot Dakine Jim (Jairo (according to Angela...but I plead the 5th)) I woke up at 2:30am because Angela was trying to get her ear plugs from her bag. I think I'll buy some breathe right strips to sell at the DZ from now on. Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!
  21. Julio!! ...So now you're owing cases of beer for your first AFF jump AND your first post on DramaZone.com! I'll run to the store for you. And in case anyone out there didn't know it...Shane is an excellent packer. He can pack my Velo 90 to open up better than I can. If the Hog Flop weren't the same weekend as Nationals, Angela and I would be taking him to Eloy to pack for us! Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!
  22. I was robbed! Video reviewer mistakenly thought that the wake of dust behind me from my blistering swoop accross the field was my foot touching the ground! It's ok though... I won the last swoop n chug several weekends ago. I'll just have to learn to keep the swoops under 60 mph for the next one. . 35 mph?! That was 55 mph, and one of my slower ones! And who was the one nursing their supposedly hurt shoulder during the swoop n chug? I think you were just skeered! Hahahah...that was a fun weekend! Thanks for jumping with us on one of our training jumps. It really helps to see what I'm doing! Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!
  23. Hey Everyone! Here are some frame grabs from Shane's Level 1 AFF jump this past Sunday afternoon . I was his Main side Instructor, Justin J. was Reserve Side Instructor, and Angela was flying camera. Shane ROCKED this jump, and with the help of Mr. Colley, he had a very soft near stand-up landing. I think we all know this was a loooong time coming. And, YES, Art gave me permission to take Shane on his AFF jumps while he was off in Sweden. Cheers! --Jairo PS...And to keep the thread on topic...Angela and I will unfortunately NOT be at this year's Hog Flop. We'll still be out in Eloy, AZ at Nationals. We just booked our flights and won't be coming back into FL 'til 11:30 that Sunday Night. Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!
  24. You're very welcome, Mike... I'm glad you like it! It was an awesome helmet and made me lots of $$ with all the vids I shot with it. I'm sure it'll serve you well! My new helmet by Wes has finally been completed...now all the camera mounts are being built. It should be ready to go by weekend after this one! See you at the DZ this weekend... Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!
  25. I don't know...don't be so quick to judge. There's a lot more that goes into chosing which camera to jump, than just size. Gotta have the right camera(s) for the right job. Just ask Norman Kent, Joe Jennings, et al. Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!
