I got the tube yesterday and got it all set up. I didn't put a cutaway system on it, but it's built that I can put one on in the event I hook it to my foot. The handle pivots and will allow the tube to rotate if needed, and it has a mesh guard on it to block a pilot chute going up. i tested it out on the highway at about 80 and it worked pretty well. not too much drag on the arm, but of course i know at 140 it will be different.

I just had a co-worker come up to me and ask about skydiving. A lot of people have started to notice, after a year of my presence, packing at work, pictures etc that I'm a skydiver and have become interested, but this guy was just stupid. He started asking questions about tandems and skydiving, where to skydive etc. I gave him our clubs business card and showed him our website. Explained to him that we jump every weekend and that I was the president. Educated him about the club and who we were etc. Then he starts going off about safety. I explained to him that the media and movies make it worse than anything else and he begins to threaten me saying if anything happens he's going to sue me and the club and hold me personally responsible. I replied back to him and said that's why we require a waiver. "Oh that wouldn't matter, I'll still sue." What the hell is up with whuffo's trying to show how big and bad their balls are by pointing fingers and saying their going to sue, instead of getting up in the air with us and prove something!!! So do you think I should let him jump?

you mean that one girl that was at lunch whom I had no idea who the heck she was? You said she was just your friend. I didn't see her bitch at you, i wanna hear the story!

i don't swim in your toilet so don't piss in my swimming pool! my mom used to have that on the fence next to our pool. kinda stupid i thought

You're packing tandems too? Geez you're just a regular David prodigy aren't you. He's gonna have you rigging for him pretty soon huh yes you need to get bridal protection, once you do i'll take you on a FF jump cool. And remember, take a sec to slow down, breath, relax, take in as much skydiving as you can. There's no rush to get into CReW and everything else. Make it a 20 year comitment to yourself to still me skydiving. But to do that take it slow. Have fun in Iowa, guess we don't see you around here this weekend you're gonna miss one hell of a showing though, I'm FFing a tube this weekend Chris

hey congrats of the coach rating. coaching is fun, but SL instructor is even better because you get to throw the students on their first jumps! those are the ones to remember. my personal favorite is a kid doing his first prcp and when he went to put his hand above his head he actually hit himself in the face. hahah it was hilarious and he didn't even know it. he had a bump on his nose. congrats again and also you'll notice how it makes you a better flier in return chris aka flash

hmmmm i thought it was only one toggle that fell off, you never told me it was both... why are you going to iowa? Chris "Flash"

In need of boogie plane!!!
kansasskydiver replied to kansasskydiver's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Hello all I need some help. Our club is having a boogie June 13th-15th in memory of our former president who passed away on a birdman jump 2 year ago. We haven't been able to find another aircraft for our boogie yet and one Cessna just won't cut it as we found out last year. We flew 40 loads in a day with it last year and loads were backed up 2-5. We're looking for a Caravan, Porter or even another 182 to fly with ours. Our DZ is in Wamego KS, we can have a truck with Jet A if needed and the runway is long enough and wide enough to turn a king air on (not sure on the width etc, just know when we were talking about bringing in a king air it was ok) If you know of anywhere or are a DZO that could help us, please PM me and let me know. We want to have a fun boogie and raise as much money as we can for his scholarship fund, but as we saw last year, one Cessna won't cut it. Blue skies and thanks in advance Chris "Flash" Armstrong KSUPC President/Webmaster www.ksu.edu/ksupc -
yeah i'm getting it from joe, how did you know. see i thought it sounded kinda odd too, but he said that he didnt want to see me jump it until i put a cutaway system on it. i was pretty sure he understood it was for sitting, but he could have confused me with some one else.
-
Yeah that's what I thought too, just release it with your hand and that's your cut away system. I'm jumping a sabre 170 winged at about 1.5/1 hopefuly the opening will be just fine. i'm going to practice getting it out to my side first then i'll sit with it . Chris

I've looked at all the forums for freefly tubes and still have a question. I've got a "beginner" sit tube being sent to me this week. I'm not sure on the legnth or the width yet, but I think he said it was only like 8 inches wide and maybe 12 ft long? (may vary) He suggested though that I have a rigger put a cut away system on it... I'm not sure how a cut away system would work on a sit tube if it were to wrap up on yoru arm, but if all else fails don't you just let go? But anyways, he said that I shouldn't jump it until I have a release system put on. Anyone have any advice or pictures for a Sit tube release system? Thanks in advance, Chris "Flash" Armstrong

High Altitude Cross Country Jump
kansasskydiver replied to Casch's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
lol when i was at collegiates in december there was a guy who wanted to do a high alt birdman jump. we all joked with him and asked if he was just trying to get a cheap ticket to flagstaff. the highest i've opened is 10k -
My mistake then, the last time I wanted to jump there, oh about a year ago or so, I called and he said I couldn't jump because a) i didn't have a cypres then b) i didn't have 200 jumps it was either or. It must have changed since the Blue skies Chris

As chris said in an earlier post, there are many more DZ's in kansas than just S.K. Wichita has 3 DZ's, KC area has acouple and of course K-State has our dz www.ksu.edu/ksupc we're all different, some are belly oriented, some are freefly friends dz's. skydive kansas city (not S.K.) is D license or cypres to jump there. other dropzones aren't. i'd say come around ks when you're here and see what each one has to offer. blue skies chris

Tell a girl skydiver how much she rocks
kansasskydiver replied to Jessica's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
skydiver chicks rock! I turned my gf into a skydiver and she is slowly learning. everyone at the dz respects her and i was awarded the "best thing you've ever done for the dz" award by dating her, kinda funny that out of all teh things i've done for the club, the recognize me dating her as the best. she's learning slowly, still on the dope rope and moving onto her prcps, but she knows how to pack already for us, flat and pro packing, and hasn't slammed anyone yet. i totally respect woman skydivers, there are about 4 or so regulars at our dz and they kick ass. we actualy train more girls than guys at our dz, just seems like the girls have bigger kahonas than the guys do. it's just a small college town, but we attract more girls than guys. party hardy, girls rock and keep it that way! blue skies chris "flash" . -
it was my 19th b day and a friend of mine was ging to do it already. so i decided, ehh why not. well on the way out my friend got arrested and thrown in jail, called the dz and asked for his money back for bail. i jumped, he never did. 2 years later 325 jumps, coach, sl instructor and presdient of the club. for my 20th i forget what i did and my 21st, well i can't even remember

hahahah hey i was called on cases of beer the whole time so i figured i'd just add some humor into the congrats! the next thing i get called on is my pro, sucky lol but again congrats, working with students is great and you'll love being a SL instructor. The coaching is great, but throwing a student for the first time, well nothing beats the big macho man crying cause he's scared and all the girls did it so that's why he's doing it oh that was the day. flash

Hey congrats on gettnig your coach! I got my coach late last year and just got my S/L instructor last month. it's a lot of fun, especially thwoing students hehe. Put your feet out and stop, get all teh way out and hang, DOT! hahah oh yeah CASE O BEER!!! blue ones and congrats Chris "flash" armsrong ps let me knwo when you get your sl so i can call you on another case lol
