Hey! Well, I can't say that I haven't gotten a few replies with pretty much the same message. Well, I guess it's a good thing you'll be inside WORKING. See you at Skyfest probably, unless that's the weekend you choose to go to Waller. Cheers. 'In an insane society a sane person seems insane.' Mr. Spock

Yes, we got weathered again last month,, and I've taken quite a beating for my current record, . DESPITE that, let's try again !! Saturday, June 11th at Skydive Houston. Confirm attendance at hinsonll@ev1.net by Wednesday night. Will be 2 groups as I have some lower time jumpers need to start with 8 or so. More experienced jumpers, the more the merrier. Come play. We haven't seen Marc from Germany in awhile. Burnout from what I hear. Haven't you accumulated enough vacation time by now to come to SkyFest?? March into your boss' office, stare at him with those godforsaken white eyes, and tell him you're going to SkyFest and will return when your done. I'll be there trying to work in RW jumps between Birdman jumps or visa-versa. BSBD Larry

I did this in '98 (or so) at SDH with the same deal.... 1 person bought $200 worth of tickets and won the slot. And although we didn't have enought women for the pink patch, he didn't mind being #16 all day. And he loved the fact they manifested as "Jay's Babes". I've been coveting the pick patch for years also, mmmm... wonder how many tickets I can afford... lessee.... (2 tickets=one jump divided by chances of winning factoring in desire for pink patch....... )

They can kick you outta the hanger.... But they can't make you leave the parking lot. Been There... Done That. "You guys gotta go"... "Hey man, we can't leave, there's still 2 cases of beer left"... "well.... take it with you" "OK!". signed Former member of 4inRelation

mmmmmm..... my rekinin of it is used to be to get one you did a TeXXas 20 way, which means a completed TeXXas star. Women got the pink patch for participating in a completed TeXXas star. The only way for a man to get a pink patch was to whine and beg 19 other women to go with him, and he was required to exit last AND dock last. I attempted to get one years ago but failed in the whineing and begging department. Never got 19 other women, 15 was close but Jay Tribble won the raffle to jump with them all day. After seeing the Icon ad on the main page I had to post what I heard on the radio this morning. Victoria's Secret has just come out with an new bra called the 'Icon'. Apparently it's designed with a little extra material in the proper place to control those perky nips.

DZ competition getting nasty/inaccurate web sites
Luminous replied to peek's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Yeah, that's a peeve. I have nothing against fair advertising, but the use of other DZ names for the search engines strikes me as a dispicable practice. I don't know if the fact it shows up in a section labled "here's some terms for the search engines" is intentional or not but it doesn't matter. I pointed it out last year and it's still there. along with the name of another (now defunct) DZ. I guess if you can't get along in the business using only your name you have to ride on someone else's. BSBD Larry 'In an insane society a sane person seems insane.' Mr. Spock -
Cool Pics !! Thanks to Scott, Chris, Larry, Perry, and everbody else who helped put it together. And as always a big thanks to TK and staff!! Had a great time and tripled my number of jumps on my classic. (I now have 6.

Bulk buying tickets-any disadvantage
Luminous replied to Unparagoned's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
ahhhhh yes. if I recollect correctly, jumps were $16, and we bulk ticketers were jumping for $12.50. that was nice. -
Hey Mike, Not bad. Not best. Seems lately if we don't have clouds, we've got 30mph winds. arrrrrrgh ! at the dz yesterday, watched the wind gauge go from 9mph to 25mph and decided to do some yard work. maybe next weekend. What's up w/ you ?? Larry. 'In an insane society a sane person seems insane.' Mr. Spock

It wasn't. And it wasn't EVEN close to the recent threads I see with links that lead to other's web sites where they are activly selling their products. Guess it's who you know. And that's about all the time I'll waste on that. 'In an insane society a sane person seems insane.' Mr. Spock

Posted last nite. Checking for responses and can't find thread, searched and found it's located in the Recycle Bin, which apparently I don't have permission to view. I don't post much so may have messed up. How'd it wind up there and how do I get it out? Larry 'In an insane society a sane person seems insane.' Mr. Spock

At what jump was your first cutaway?
Luminous replied to justaflygirl's topic in General Skydiving Discussions

Luminous replied to chuckakers's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Ok, We've done the team draw. WOOHOO! -
I've know this team since I started jumping 12 years ago and STILL have to (sp?) every time I spell it. Oh... and they're right. Both great DZ's. Blue ones. Larry 'In an insane society a sane person seems insane.' Mr. Spock

Hey Todd, I'll add my praise. I had a great time on Thursday when we flew up from Waller with the otter. It was great to see some former students hard into the sport. (kinda embarrased I didn't remember names but oh well). It was a pleasure to personally meet George and Barbara Busch. It still amazes me how funny he is in person. And, in the usual knights fasion, the GK were great. I thought their "2000" foot hop&pop was great. By the time they were ready to leave we were at 7K so the spotter turned around, yelled "SPEED STAR" and climbed out. WOO-HOO. I owe beer for my first jump at aggieland. And I always pay my beer debts.

$12 Jumps at Summer Liftoff Festival - No Boogie Fee
Luminous replied to haylee's topic in Events & Places to Jump
SunnyD - Let me know and I can bring a tent for ya. edited to add: Or just sleeping bag so you can sleep in the AC'd clubhouse. -
I'm very unimpressed with jump #'s. I've seen people with 70 jumps outfly people with 300 jumps. And I know a couple of people with approx 500 jumps (give or take) that can outfly me. I do know what your talking about and it's true that there a those that refuse to jump with people unless they have a bunch of jumps or a pair of breast. They are the minority. BSBD Larry "If you can't land here you shouldn't be flying."
