  1. Apparently these guys (and gals) don't stop ROCKIN! I showed up a newbie 10 years ago and had the same experience.
  2. When in Houston, choosing a DZ to go to is hard because either one is an excellent choice. Your more than welcome to come to Skydive Houston. If your still working on the license we can work on it with you. If you've managed to get your license, we can work on your SCR. (We love helping people get their SCR). Either way I'm sure you'll meet a lot of fun people and have a great time. Blue Ones, Larry "If you can't land here, you shouldn't be flying"
  3. I don't think I'd be pissed off, being dead and all. But I do know that if all my handles aren't pulled that I will be pissed on. It's a friendly agreement among some of my friends..... "ohhhhh nooooo Larry. Oh man this is just so sad I can't beliv.... wha? hey! is that handle still in the pocket? Well..... (zzzzzzzzzip)" Trust me, I'm pulling everything !! 4. My heart felt condolences to Paul's family. We are all his friends and share your loss. Blue Skies Paul. Larry.
  5. I've seen freeflyers attempt RW, I can understand why this is considered difficult. JUST KIDDING!!
  6. 150 bucks !! Daaaaaaaaaaa-um. "That tape better be gold fleeced" - Brad Lambert
  7. WOOHOO ! 17500. Good luck to all ! Hey, is Brad awake yet? I know he's jumping but is he awake? Blue Skies & Big Records Larry 'In an insane society a sane person seems insane.' Mr. Spock
  8. There's currently no set date. I'm just going to attempt this once a month or so, as I have been asked repeatedly by low time jumpers, (well, lower than me since I'm low time too), about getting some big way experience. It's also not a just show up thing. I'm trying to keep a good ratio of experienced to non/low-experienced jumpers to make this both fun and a learning forum. First come/First serve on slots, with a limit on low experienced jumpers. I'm sending out an email to all "interested" parties about a week prior asking yes/no will you attend. That keeps commitment time to a minimum while allowing me to get things prepped for the weekend. If you do happen to just show up I'll do my best to get you on, no guarantee. If I get 20, great. If it turns out to be 8, that's great also. I currently have 39 "interested" people for March 27th. So, let me know if your interested via PM or Email, since I don't make it a point to check post all the time. Cheers. Larry 'In an insane society a sane person seems insane.' Mr. Spock
  9. Congratulations! Larry 'In an insane society a sane person seems insane.' Mr. Spock
  10. I've been trying to get one of these for 8 years! This has gotta be the year. 'In an insane society a sane person seems insane.' Mr. Spock
  11. This falls more under "Gathering" then "Event". Anybody interested in doing some 20way? I'm orgainzing (read: attempting to organize) some big way stuff. Our first attempt was hampered by weather but we were able to get a couple of people their "First" dock on a 20way. I'm trying to maintain a good ratio of non-experienced / experienced jumpers. Email if interested and I'll give you details. Edited to add: or PM me. I always forget that. Larry 'In an insane society a sane person seems insane.' Mr. Spock
  12. Better yet.... Download the 1994 20-Way dive pool. Approx 7MB pdf file.
  13. Hey Dave, long time no see. Anyways.... I've received a copy of the 1994 USPA 20way dive pool. 10mb PDF file. PM where you want it sent and I'll send it. Edited to add: Anyone PM if you want it, not just Dave. Dave doesn't want it, he's doing 8way. GO BIG! 'In an insane society a sane person seems insane.' Mr. Spock
  14. I had the same question recently and besides the "flying together" books, Jan Meyer has an excellent DiveMaker program. I say excellent not from experience, but from having it highly recommended to me by the organizers of the Texas big-way record events. I'll probably pick up a copy when I get employed again. Check it out at http://www.makeithappen.com/ Cheers. Larry 'In an insane society a sane person seems insane.' Mr. Spock
  15. I'm confused. At SDH you have a Super Otter during the day, and at night it's Catfish BBQing, beer, hot chicks, and the pool when weather permits. Not to mention the antics of the crw dogs. Why go to Houston for entertainment ? and.... Katt, come back and see us when you can. 'In an insane society a sane person seems insane.' Mr. Spock
  16. San Marcos ?? ASKING for teams ?? Are they ice skating in hell right now?? 'In an insane society a sane person seems insane.' Mr. Spock
  17. I don't know where this came from but I think it sucks. Why would you want to stare at an altimeter for the last 3 (approx) seconds of a skydive? Are you going to stop falling, or fall faster, if you don't "lock on" ? No, it's going to take the same amount of time if your "locked on" or not and IMO, they're spending way to much to watch the needle move. You might as well have them wave off at 6000. 6000 feet, chin up, deep breath, Wave off, ART. Can you tell that's a peeve?
  18. I vote 1 also. 13 in my 1st jump course. including me, 4 showed for level 2 then 3 of us showed for next 3/4 months. Then me and another guy, he stopped showing up when it got cold & I never saw him again. Bad Bug! 'In an insane society a sane person seems insane.' Mr. Spock
  19. Damn you people! Gonna get the greenies to start issuing penalties for the impoper usage of the word NAKED. Congrats on your D !!
  20. Ben & Jerry half Naked ??? Oh.... wait..... I must've just been expecting something Naked. (Tease) Congratulations on the D !! BSBD Larry 'In an insane society a sane person seems insane.' Mr. Spock
  21. I answered your PM about the rest but I wanted to make it clear that: The way your post were worded didn't suggest the facilities, it suggested training. And that I had a GREAT time. I wasn't the one landing hard. Fun DZ, Fun people. BSBD Larry 'In an insane society a sane person seems insane.' Mr. Spock
  22. I detoured about 3 hours, of a normally 13 hr trip home, to get to WTS. Trying to get someone to jump with me was like pulling teeth. (I had around 800 jumps at the time). I finally got 3 others and wound up teaching THEM how to exit a 4 way from a King Air. During my 1 day visit, 2 people hooked in bad enough to bounce a couple of times, (neither extremly lucky jumper broke anything), and how about the one's screaming GF running through the landing area while jumpers were landing. This same jumper when I commented on how bad it looked and lucky he was replied "Oh that's nothing compared to what I have done.". And then there was the young jumper swooping the hanger downwind clipping the antenna on the way by. More economical I'm sure. Better and Safer? I really have my doubts about that. BSBD Larry 'In an insane society a sane person seems insane.' Mr. Spock
  23. Here's one, You wouldn't have to pay non-group member fees for USPA courses. I've been through numerous discussions regarding Mike's decisions regarding USPA membership. And I also find it ironic that he's on the board. He's a great guy, a GREAT pilot, and his King Air ROCKS! That being said, your decision to jump at a non-USPA group member dropzone is your decision and you must deal with the consequences. It is silly to state that your "due paying members" etc... and then in the next paragraph state that you have to be a member to "violate" the rules. Make up your mind. In this case the "violation" is that your jumping at a non-USPA group member DZ. If the DZ wants the course there, have them foot the "non-USPA" bill. Hope you get your course and everyone passes. BSBD Larry 'In an insane society a sane person seems insane.' Mr. Spock
  24. what song. I've an old album that could possibly be transfered to mp3. Note to you young folk: An "album" is a disc made of vinyl on which music has been recorded, much like a cd, but requires a "turntable" to play. "I don't give a damn 'bout my bad reputation." - JJ BSBD
