WOOHOO!! Good Luck. Have Fun!
-
Hiya! Ya know, I'm just finished sending email to the 20 people fortunate enough to have a slot on this year's Skydive Houston 20way team, WallerFP, and it got me to thinking. Last year's 20way competition involved a bet between you, (a member of the Skydive Houston team), and a dude who was a member of the Skydive Spaceland team, not Deguello. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the person on the team who sucked MOST, was supposed to deliver a Keg of Shiner to the DZ of the person who's team sucked LESS. And in all honesty, I don't remember that keg ever showing up. And here we are, almost to the next 20way competition. How am I supposed to make any bets with the other team knowing that they didn't pay up last year? So, just wanted to know if MAYBE I missed that keg showing up? Will there be a swoop & chug ? -
Update: Robin just emailed the DZ. WOO-HOO !! As far as what happened, I was packing and didn't see it so all I know is hard landing. Glad she's doing well. BSBD Larry P.S. - Nothing to do with night jumps. 2nd round of 8way on Sunday. 'In an insane society a sane person seems insane.' Mr. Spock

Old enough to know better but able to figure out how to get away with it.

Sounds fun.

That's just because "they're" the only associated DZ's in Texas. SDH has a paved runway. Now if your talking about the condition of the runway, that's a different story. Congrats Phil & Deb. You guys STILL rock. See you soon. Larry. 'In an insane society a sane person seems insane.' Mr. Spock

Skydive Houston, Waller TX Golf course is on the North side of the DZ. It's a little fly-in community, the white buildings on the south side are hangers. Q: What's the difference between a bad day for a golfer and a bad day for a skydiver? A: A bad day for a golfer is "Thwack!" - "SHIT!" 'In an insane society a sane person seems insane.' Mr. Spock

TM = Tandom Master Congratulations Pablo !!!

So there's a difference between having absolutely nothing to do at work and doing absolutely nothing at work?

So you want to be an instructor?

I'm in it for the big bucks! BSBD 'In an insane society a sane person seems insane.' Mr. Spock -
Thanks Gloria. no.. no.. that's ok. I won't be there anyways as I have a training class in Austin for the next week. anyways... "Hi" to you & the SO. and .... Jessica, you now have to plan an additional weekend to visit SDH while I'm there, as I'm sure the ride to altitude will be MUCH to quiet while I'm not.

I wore contacts when I started jumping. Get good goggles and remember to blink. And if one does come out, as mentioned earlier, don't take off the goggles until your somewhere you can put it back in. Had one or the other come off at various times, but I had BAD vision, (-11 & -12.5 diopter), and always wondered what would happen if both came out. I found out on a night SCR attempt. WHOOP!! WHOOP!! WHOOP!! The "THERE I WAS, THOUGHT I WAS GONNA DIE" alarm has been activated. Proceed in an orderly manner to the next post. Couldn't see shit except for the green glow of 7 glow sticks waiting for me to dock. Kept slamming into em. At breakoff I tracked long and opened low to avoid traffic. Knew where I was due to runway lights. Didn't flare as I had no idea I was that close to the ground. LASIK 3 months later. WOO-HOO!!

Yup. And what about the museum. Forget that and save some bucks too. Just a thought. But I have so few I had to share. 'In an insane society a sane person seems insane.' Mr. Spock

And Skydive Houston too lately. Steve was really great about bringing up his otter when the SDH otter was on the ground. But it's back in action now. BSBD 'In an insane society a sane person seems insane.' Mr. Spock

Another thing I'll add is being aware who's around while your discussing student performance with another Instructor/JM. It's very unsettling for a student when a JM walks up to the JM beside him and says someting like "I can't believe what that did! He sucked!". This makes said student wonder what's being said behind his back. And discussing other JM performance while around students is also bad form. Keep all public JM discussions on a professional level. Sure, there can be some bantering going on but be sure that it's CLEAR that it's bantering. If you have issues with a student's or JM's performance, take it up with them in private, or talk to the chief instructor. BSBD Larry 'In an insane society a sane person seems insane.' Mr. Spock

Congratulations my friend!! I'll be sure to supply you your favorite frosy beverage next time we meet.

As of 5pm CST, they had 4 attempts in, and were planning 2 more. Less than 20 people out at breakoffs. Said it was going well.
