Wow, that book is around 2,800 years old. Definitive PROOF that Hades, Proserpine and Circe exist. But what about Zeus? Where's your proof of Zeus?

Yep, we all know that the older a book the more authoritative it is! For proof of Zeus, ask Alexander the Great, they're family dont you know?;)

Hey, I found the PROOF! Zeus, Poseidon, Athena, Hermes are all here:

Book I

So now all who escaped death in battle or by shipwreck had got
safely home except Ulysses, and he, though he was longing to return to
his wife and country, was detained by the goddess Calypso, who had got
him into a large cave and wanted to marry him. But as years went by,
there came a time when the gods settled that he should go back to
Ithaca; even then, however, when he was among his own people, his
troubles were not yet over; nevertheless all the gods had now begun to
pity him except Poseidon, who still persecuted him without ceasing
and would not let him get home.
Now Poseidon had gone off to the Ethiopians, who are at the world's
end, and lie in two halves, the one looking West and the other East.
He had gone there to accept a hecatomb of sheep and oxen, and was
enjoying himself at his festival; but the other gods met in the
house of Olympian Zeus, and the sire of gods and men spoke first. At
that moment he was thinking of Aegisthus, who had been killed by
Agamemnon's son Orestes; so he said to the other gods:
"See now, how men lay blame upon us gods for what is after all
nothing but their own folly. Look at Aegisthus; he must needs make
love to Agamemnon's wife unrighteously and then kill Agamemnon, though
he knew it would be the death of him; for I sent Hermes to warn him
not to do either of these things, inasmuch as Orestes would be sure to
take his revenge when he grew up and wanted to return home. Hermes
told him this in all good will but he would not listen, and now he has
paid for everything in full."
Then Athena said, "Father, son of Cronos, King of kings, it
served Aegisthus right, and so it would any one else who does as he
did; but Aegisthus is neither here nor there; it is for Ulysses that
my heart bleeds, when I think of his sufferings in that lonely
sea-girt island, far away, poor man, from all his friends. It is an
island covered with forest, in the very middle of the sea, and a
goddess lives there, daughter of the magician Atlas, who looks after
the bottom of the ocean, and carries the great columns that keep
heaven and earth asunder. This daughter of Atlas has got hold of
poor unhappy Ulysses, and keeps trying by every kind of blandishment
to make him forget his home, so that he is tired of life, and thinks
of nothing but how he may once more see the smoke of his own chimneys.
You, sir, take no heed of this, and yet when Ulysses was before Troy
did he not propitiate you with many a burnt sacrifice? Why then should
you keep on being so angry with him?"
And Zeus said, "My child, what are you talking about? How can I
forget Ulysses than whom there is no more capable man on earth, nor
more liberal in his offerings to the immortal gods that live in
heaven? Bear in mind, however, that Poseidon is still furious with
Ulysses for having blinded an eye of Polyphemus king of the
Cyclopes. Polyphemus is son to Poseidon by the nymph Thoosa, daughter
to the sea-king Phorcys; therefore though he will not kill Ulysses
outright, he torments him by preventing him from getting home.
Still, let us lay our heads together and see how we can help him to
return; Poseidon will then be pacified, for if we are all of a mind
he can hardly stand out against us."

Sure we could -- anybody could post on this forum if they knew your password. :S

Why would a non-existent person have a password?

why not go to www.newsforthesoul.com and check out some really posive and uplifting information? instead of all of your 'when jesus comes back he will judge the unbelievers and send to hell to burn FOREVER, fear-based crap!

there are only two emotions, LOVE or FEAR. the two are opposites ans cannot coexist in the same time-space continuum. teaching people that they will BURN IN HELL FOREVER, if they don't believe in the bible is FEAR, not LOVE

your 1st commandment and isaih both say that god is the only saviour not anyone or anything else.

BTW, did you just delete the PROSELETIZERS QUESTIONAIRE that i sent? you should have been a responsible preacher and answered EVERY question and sent it back.

I suppose you threw the voucher for the EXOTIC VACATION that i gifted you in the trash also.

You know, reading through that passage made me realise just how much science the Odyssey contained! See here,

Way back 1000 years BC how could they have known that the ocean had a bottom? Its only in the last hundred years we've been able to reach the very deepest floors of the ocean. Many people back then thought that the earth floated on a limitless ocean - so the Odyssey was really way ahead of its time.

(That bit about the columns of heaven and earth was obviously only meant metaphorically though.)

You don't go to hell because God is itching to put you there. You go to hell ALL BY YOURSELF. You can seperate yourself from god thru sin (which we all do). And you can seperate yourself from god in the more deliberate manner, which many people on this forum have done when they have said, in effect: "I reject God."

Thats a bit of a stretch. I doubt anyone who beleives in hell chooses it. I highly doubt that when someone is being sentenced to hell they go along willingly. By your argument anyone in hell should be allowed to accept god and get out of hell. If after 5 trillion milleniums of hell shouldn't someone get a chance to reconsider their choices that were made during the 65-85 years they were on earth?

The idea is that after we die we will live with our choice. Much of the description of the physicality of torture (a lake of fire, or a pit, or a burning garbage dump [gehenna]) is symbolic. Jesus had to get through to the Jews in a way that the Jews would understand, since at that time many of them didn't have much of a belief in an afterlife at all. The torment will be separation from God.

An all powerfull god has the power to make your spirit disappear so you simply cease to exist. He is not forced to keep you in torment (regardless of your apparent choice to experience that torment). The whole concept of hell seems needlessly sadistic.
My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.

Descartes walks into a bar.

The bartender walks up to him and says, “Would you care for a drink?”

Descartes replied, “I think not.” and disappears.

What's 70 years against eternity? You just have to walk the line for a short period of time, according to a certain set of rules and after that you're truly free.

Imagine what this world would be like if there were no law, no law enforcement, and no punishment for crime.
