Team Funnel is working with Make-A-Wish (they are doing all the hard work) to help this wish come true: Crystal’s Wish Crystal is a 13-year-old girl who lives in Dekalb County with her mom and sister. Her friends and family describe her as fun-loving, outgoing, bubbly and creative. She loves to eat pizza and cauliflower, but not at the same time! She enjoys reading, arts and crafts, jewelry making and rollerblading. Her favorite actor is Sean Connery and she loves watching Oprah! She also enjoys playing with her pet rabbit. Crystal was diagnosed in May of 2002 with Rhabdomyosarcoma, a fast-growing, highly malignant tumor which accounts for over half of the soft tissue sarcomas in children. Rhabdomyosarcoma often causes a noticeable lump on a child's body. She is currently done with treatment and is taking it easy. She has returned to school and is doing well. She lost her hair during treatment, but it is already starting to grow back. Crystals wish is to be in a movie! One of her favorite books is being made into a movie and she would like to be a part of that film. The name of the book is Ender’s Game. The movie is not in production yet, but Crystal wants to wait to see this dream become a reality! This amazing wish will be granted thanks to the Team Funnel and Skydive Chicago Memorial Boogie! This is where we lay out a number of items, from used (but in good condition) gear to stereo equipment, Jewelry to Weekend getaways, to Fishing Cruises and Hunting trips. You buy a bidder's number and write your bid on the bidding form laying in front of the item. Check the sheet throughout the day, and if someone bids higher, it's your turn to out bid them. Who ever has the highest bid at the end of the auction, wins. We had some major items last year, and this year promises to be a repeat. We're even thinking of adding a "bidding agent" aspect to the process. Stay tuned for more on that as well. Look here to see some of the items up for auction. Dunk Tank -- The ever popular Get Somebody Wet tank. Yes, it'll be there again. You'll have your opportunity to dunk some of the most notable skydivers around. And don't forget the manifest staff. We'll do all we can to get some of them on the board as well. Last year Eric took a dunk, as did our favorite chef Tim. Who goes in this year? News Flash: Frenchie (Matt) and Loki have volunteered for this year's dunk tank. Anyone want to see them get dunked? Ahhhh, the things we do for charity. Cook Out -- Don't forget the Saturday night cook out on the docks. If you haven't been to Skydive Chicago and seen the docks around the pond, you just can't appreciate how beautiful this is. And this year, SDC has finished the Tiki Hut on the dock, so it will be that much better. With our very own Paul Wold doing the grilling again, what more could you ask for? Live Music -- Of course, our cook out just wouldn't be right without the live band. Can you guess who we're having this year? If you said Serilian, you're right. Some of the best music to come out of Chicago, and we've got 'em. They've become a tradition at our Memorial Boogie and we're happy to keep them coming back as long as YOU like them (and so far, you all do!) For Sunday night, we have a band new to us -- the Solar Rhythm Band, featuring SDC skydiver Jeremy. Check them out! Bake Sale -- So far, this hasn't been able to last for more than an hour. We sell out so fast, I have yet to try any of the bake goods! Thanks mostly to Rae and Gretchen and Melanie, we have some really gooooood stuff here (at least, that's what the lucky tell me). This year, I've been assured the product quantity will increase. But . . . get 'em while they're hot and don't miss out! TaterHead Competition -- Now this should be fun, and make for great video! The idea behind this is to put together a Mr. Potato Head in freefall. Sound interesting? Check out this page for the details. Record Attempt -- We'll be trying to set a TeamFunnel Record for a BigWay over the weekend as well. Come join in (if you have a number), or get your number on Saturday and join the jumps on Sunday!
