ifics 0 #1 November 4, 2003 I need some advice. I have been editing with smaller programs like Vegas Video for awhile but I am to the point where my current pc is not up to par. I would like to build one that suits editing better. Does anyone have any advice about this?
quade 4 #2 November 5, 2003 What are your intentions? Small, occasional video projects or major productions? How much are you willing to spend.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
ifics 0 #3 November 5, 2003 Major productions (as major as a dude at my level at least) I don't want it to be shabby when I do get there though. I don't want to spend more then 3k.
blazetailman 0 #4 November 5, 2003 How much computer modding experience do you have? Are you more intune in buying a computer, dell or other and install the software or do you think you could buy all the parts, motherboard, processor, ram, case, and put it together your self. I put together a 2.6 p4 with a lot of perks for about $1200. Tons of hardrive space and dvd burner. Its a good money saver if you have a weekend if you know your stuff, or a week to learn and do it.www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com

ifics 0 #7 November 5, 2003 I have the know how to put together my own pc. I don't want a mac because I have 2 other pc's that need to get along with my new one. I have over 40 gig's of clips between these 2 pc's, so a mac is not really what I want. I was just seeing if anyone had any opinions or suggestions regarding new editing boards and such. Thx for the info...
nacmacfeegle 0 #8 November 5, 2003 Have a look at this company in Brighton, UK. http://www.dvc.uk.com/index.php They make custom edit setups, they obviously don't have their full specs but it might help you price up a system, or build a shopping list etc. They have links to all the makers of the boards and suchlike.... uros678 0 #9 November 10, 2003 If you have xperience building comps.... then go for it...it should be very exciting...get lot's of RAM minimal 1 Gb DDR, lots of HD space 2*120 Gb or at least 1*120GB...I wouldn't really worry on something else...every 2.0+ or less proc would work.... just my two cents... best regards, Uros
